Moving In

Tahlequah has become a destination town for families , as more people continue to move here .

Spanning roughly 12.5 miles across Cherokee County , the city is now home to around 17,000 residents , and more businesses and services continue to become available in town . It ’ s a place for people to get an education , find stable work and raise their children . And the city has a plethora of living options , so residents can find exactly what they ’ re looking for , whether they ’ re renting , leasing or buying .
Many of the city ’ s residents own a house , and the median home cost is far lower than the Oklahoma average . So while there are plenty of options for housing , most are also affordable . While Northeastern State University is in session , folks will notice an increase in traffic throughout city . The fourthlargest public university in the state , NSU offers a variety of housing options , including dormitories , suite-style apartment buildings and married student housing , for those who have children .
