C herokee County boasts several services focused on both physical and mental health , as well as ambulance services . Tribal members can get top-notch care from the Cherokee Nation , while others can find help at other facilities and clinics , some of which are nonprofit , with fees based on a sliding scale . It should be noted that the COVID pandemic has affected operating hours and access , so it ’ s best to call ahead .

Northeastern Health System
NHS has provided regional health care for communities in Northeastern Oklahoma for decades , as it actively tries to recruit the best physicians and health care professionals available . The system is continuously being updated and expanded to provide more services for people . It is also a health care system that focuses on the community , as NHS was recently recognized by the local Kiwanis Club for its work cleaning up litter . Patients visiting the hospital ’ s emergency room are treated by emergency medicine board-certified physicians , while inpatients have access to a support staff of physicians ’ assistants , nurse practitioners and other medical professionals . Cherokee Nation Health Services
With clinic sites located throughout the Cherokee Nation ’ s 14-county jurisdiction , citizens of the Cherokee Nation and members of other federally recognized tribal nations can receive medical care at multiple locations . The largest tribal outpatient health center in the country , as an expansion of W . W . Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah , was opened in recent years . The 469,000-square-foot outpatient health center boasts 240 exam rooms , an ambulatory surgery center , two MRI machines , primary care , 34 dental chairs , full-service optometry and
specialty health services . CNHS has also recently partnered with Oklahoma State University to create the first tribally affiliated medical school on tribal land in the country : the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine at Cherokee Nation . NeoHealth
Northeastern Oklahoma Community Health Centers offers health care services through its clinics spread across the region , including in Hulbert , Tahlequah , Muskogee , Salina , and Westville . The nonprofit organization provides comprehensive health , wellness and social services . Cherokee County Health Department
The health department offers immunizations , family planning , and numerous general health services . CCHD also performs restaurant inspections and rabies investigations , and works with area health organizations to offer vaccine clinics . Urgent Care
