to your new home!

Our small but mighty state consists of five counties, eight cities, thirty-one towns and about 1.1 million residents. Once you get acquainted with the Ocean State, you’ ll realize the most you’ ll want to drive away from your new home is about a half-hour, and that’ s OK.
When I moved out of my childhood home last year and just over the Rhode Island border, my mother was sad. Of course, she would miss seeing her youngest daughter every day, but she was even sadder( I think) to drive more than twenty minutes to visit me. Now that’ s a true Rhode Islander.
There’ s plenty to do in our tiny and quirky state, from the Creative Capital to the City by the Sea. Whether you’ re the outdoorsy type and you enjoy going on walks( pg. 46) or swimming at the beach( pg. 48)— with nearly 400 miles of shoreline, we’ ve got plenty of those— there’ s never been a better time to be a Rhode Islander. And if you’ re a foodie, you’ ll find some of the best independent and authentic eateries on almost every corner( pg. 16). Our restaurants are renowned for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and for making you feel right at home.
So grab a Del’ s, an Awful Awful or a Narragansett beer, settle somewhere by the sea and enjoy this sneak preview of your new home base. Then, go out and jump in with both feet( figuratively or literally, your choice).
