JANUARY Can’ t wait till Oktoberfest? You’ re in luck: The Rhode Island Brew Fest starts the year off right with a celebration of American craft brewers and beer. Join in for your pick of samples from more than 200 styles of beer made by more than fifty different breweries. FEBRUARY The Newport Winter Festival is an annual series of events that draws droves to the City by the Sea in midwinter. Favorite

MARCH The City by the Sea( and Rhode Island in general, really) boasts a large and proud Irish population, so naturally the Newport St. Patrick’ s Day Parade is among the best. Attendees can expect pipe and marching bands, fife and drum corps, reenactment units and a whole host of local organizations as well as drink specials and entertainment offerings from surrounding Irish pubs. APRIL Get ready to step into spring with Blithewold’ s Daffodil Days. For the month of April, the seaside mansion welcomes visitors to explore its thirty-three-acre estate while it blooms with more than 50,000 daffodils. During the first week( which usually coincides with school vacation), Blithewold also sets up many fun-forthe-whole-family activities that celebrate the beautiful yellow florals.
