All of Plumtree Baby ’ s materials seamlessly integrate . This curriculum is based on our comprehensive 48-page Newborn Care ( abbreviated NC ) parent book ( right ) which can be used by parents as a guide in class and as a take-home reference .
The book , along with this curriculum , has a corresponding PowerPoint ( below ) with 102 slides including three topics and video .
Other complementary resources are available from Plumtree Baby including handouts and posters , most available in English or Spanish .

In our parent books , wherever you see this plum symbol , you will find an important topic highlighted . Often , there are several different options or approaches for these topics .
Encourage parents to discuss questions and preferences with their partner and health care provider ( doctor or midwife ). Doing so will help parents make informed decisions about the approach that is best for their family .
This curriculum is based on the standard Newborn Care parent book and PowerPoint pictured here ( NC 2023 , 2nd edition ). If you have a baby-friendly version of the book ( available by custom order ), if you rearrange your PowerPoint slides or if you have an older edition of the Newborn Care PowerPoint , you will need to adjust references to page numbers and slide numbers throughout this curriculum in order to accurately reflect your resources .
This curriculum assumes that the user has a strong understanding of these topics and has completed newborn / lactation educator training and / or earned educator certification . If you are unfamiliar with any of the topics , you can find references to evidence-based information at plumtree . pro / references .
