On view in the Visitor’ s Center at Women’ s Rights National Historic Park, The First Wave features life-size bronze statues of the five women who organized the First Women’ s Rights Convention and several of the men, including Frederic Douglas, who came out in support of social, political and religious equality for women.
Stonewall National Monument in New York City The country’ s first National Monument dedicated to LGBT rights, it has come to be thought of as the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement. It recognizes the June 1969 resistance of LGBT patrons to the police raids they had regularly been subjected to. The Stonewall Inn continues as a privately owned working bar. nps. gov / ston

Lucille Ball- Desi Arnaz Museum and National Center of Comedy in Jamestown( her hometown) celebrates Lucille Ball’ s historic role as a pioneer for women in comedy and on TV, as the first woman to head a major television studio. The museum is filled with memorabilia, video and photographs. Fans of Desi Arnaz— note that 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of his birth. luci-desi. com

Harriet Tubman National Historic Park in Auburn honors“ the Moses of Her People,” a courageous fighter who delivered hundreds of slaves to freedom on her Underground Railroad and promoted black education, social betterment and women’ s rights. Located on 26 acres, the site contains four buildings, including the two-story brick home provided to Tubman by William H. Seward, U. S. Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site in Hyde Park is the only such site dedicated to a first lady.
