LOCALLY MADE
Krakow, Poland-born Myer Lewkowicz came to Montréal after surviving a concentration camp during World War II by
dreaming of a piece of bread. Five years after arriving in Canada, he had learned how to make bagels and founded the
St-Viateur Bagel Shop in 1957. His baking secrets were passed on to a night-shift employee, Joe Morena, whose sons now
run the iconic shop, open 24/7. St-Viateur’s bagels are world famous for being a perfect combination of crisp and chewy, and
the original shop is known to attract celebrities, including Céline Dion, William Shatner, Roberto Luongo, Mordecai Richler
and the late Leonard Cohen. Stviateurbagel.com
