Dear Traveler:
O
n behalf of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the
New York State Department of Transportation,
welcome to the New York by Rail travel guide.
Traveling by Amtrak train is smart, providing a
comfortable, relaxing ride that is cost-effective and
environmentally sound.
Governor Cuomo knows that a robust transportation system
supports economic development, creates jobs and enhances
mobility for all travelers. That is why passenger rail service on New
York’s Empire Corridor is
getting a major overhaul. From
Manhattan to Albany and
Niagara Falls, rail stations,
tracks and signal systems are
being modernized to improve
your travel experience.
At the same time,
construction is continuing on
a new track at Rensselaer
Station and a second track
between Albany and
Schenectady. Both projects
will further reduce travel
delays and keep train traffic
moving. Signal improvements between Poughkeepsie and
Rensselaer go on line this year, making train service even more
reliable.
New York is a state of opportunity. Guided by a bold vision, it
is rebuilding and modernizing critical infrastructure across the
state to remain competitive and promote economic growth.
Passenger rail service is essential, and today’s investments will
enhance and transform it for the future.
We encourage you to see for yourself. Travel New York by rail
and experience all this great state has to offer. Welcome to the
Empire State and enjoy the train!
The untold true story
of the Witches of Oz
Sincerely,
Matthew J. Driscoll
