Youth Apprenticeship
Hundreds of students in NW Wisconsin participate in Wisconsin ’ s Youth Apprenticeship program . New Richmond High School students are among those working to gain specific , technical skills in a career pathway they are interested in pursuing beyond high school . Partnered with local businesses , students work toward earning State of Wisconsin certification , and in some cases industry certifications . All while earning wages , and building a dynamic resume . Youth apprenticeships may lead to direct employment after high school , into a Registered Apprenticeship , technical college or four year college programs .
High school students aged 16 and older may participate in Youth Apprenticeship programs at NRHS working with teachercoordinator Shelley Huber . Students seek their own employment , or Mrs . Huber works with them to find an appropriate job matching their career interests with the business and industry partners that she has built upon through the St Croix Valley Youth Apprenticeship Consortium and the New Richmond Chamber of Commerce . The NR Chamber is a strong partner in sharing the purpose of the YA program and assists the school in linking students with work opportunities in the community . Current participating local business partners include : Bernard ’ s Northtown , First National Community Bank , Jimmy John ’ s , Taco Bell and WESTconsin Credit Union .
