The Town of Jupiter is governed by a municipal code that contains the Town’ s charter, as well as things like administrative regulations, land development regulations, building regulations, zoning requirements, etc. The code is amended through the Town Council’ s legislative process, and enforced by the Town through the Code Compliance Division and the Jupiter Police Department. CODE COMPLIANCE DIVISION
The Town’ s Code Compliance Division plays an important role in preserving the standards of housing, safety, sanitation, and other elements established for our community. The Division works in partnership with residents and businesses to promote and maintain a safe and desirable environment within the Town, as well as to provide information and educational programs intended to improve the standards of the community and enhance property values.

The following are violations that the Code Compliance team addresses frequently throughout Jupiter. Some of these situations may end up applying to you, so please be mindful of these regulations as you go about your daily activities.
RENT
Residential Building Permits
Thinking of renovating? Building permits are required for most work on residential buildings and structures including single family homes, duplexes, triplexes, townhomes, condominiums, apartments, villas, and mobile homes.
Below is a list of the most common types of residential work that require permitting from the Town of Jupiter:
• Additions
• Alterations or renovations
• Garage or carport
• Shed, storage or utility structure
• Swimming pool or spa
• Door or window replacement
• Garage door replacement
• Deck, patio or porch
• Screen enclosure or pool cage
• Gazebo, arbor or pergola
Prohibited Signs
These include portable signs, pennants, A-frames, balloons, streamers, animated signs, roof and window signs, and painted wall signs. All legal signage requires a permit.
Illegal Parking
Boats, campers and trailers must be stored in the side yard or in the back yard. Commercial vehicles are not permitted to be parked in a residential area for more than one hour, unless actively loading or unloading.

Mowing & Landscape Maintenance
Grass and weeds can not exceed 8 inches in height for residential areas, 6 inches for commercial areas and 12 inches for vacant lots.
Illegal Accumulation, Disposal & Dumping
The accumulation and disposal of abandoned property, debris, and waste products on public or private land is not permitted.
