Jupiter Beaches— jupiter. fl. us / Beaches
Jupiter has approximately 3.4 miles of beautiful beaches along its coastline. Here, the Gulf Stream flows nearest to the United States with its warm current keeping the ocean at a comfortable 78 degrees on average throughout the year. Jupiter’ s beaches are known for their warm, clear waters and shores that are enveloped by the natural features of the area, such as dunes, mangroves and sea grape trees. In addition to maintenance by the County and Town, Friends of Jupiter Beach, a local non-profit group, helps to keep the beaches clean and protect these natural resources that are enjoyed by residents and tourists alike. Friends of Jupiter Beach is essential to maintaining the local dog beaches.
Dogs on the Beach— jupiter. fl. us / DogBeach
We are proud to say that Jupiter is home to one of the few remaining dog-friendly beaches in the state of Florida. In 1989, Jupiter’ s Town Council adopted a policy to allow dogs on Jupiter’ s beaches. In the time since then, the dog-friendly beach areas have been defined as a 2.5 mile stretch of beach from beach marker # 25 at Marcinski Road going north to beach marker # 59 on the south end of Carlin Park. In order to preserve this amenity, there are some rules that should be followed when visiting Jupiter’ s dog-friendly beach areas. Owners must supervise their dogs at all times while at the beach, pick up any dog waste( bags are available at the beaches) and dogs should be leashed while walking from the car to the beach. For a full list of the beach rules and tips, visit jupiter. fl. us / dogs-on-the-beach.
Turtle Season— www. marinelife. org
Sea turtle nesting season in Palm Beach County runs from March 1 through October 31. Turtles that commonly nest in the Juno and Jupiter Beach area are Leatherbacks, Loggerheads and Greens. These turtle nest are protected by state and federal law. To learn more about South Florida’ s sea turtles or to volunteer visit the Loggerhead Marinelife Center website listed above.
