Police: Protectors or Snares?
There may be a police force in New York City but is it a working one? Police let the majority of citizens of our beloved city rot and set them up to not be trusted not because they have a reason to but because they “pollute” their perfect society of the wealthy.
I am sure most of us would agree that we do not want our own children or relatives to go into a life of crime but, the police are driving immigrants, who barely came with their clothes on their back, to feel unprotected and to making them take extreme measures to rest assured at night when they are only creating more crime without even knowing. They (immigrants) feel as though they need their own police force and if the feeling of protection came through gangs then so be it! The immigrants have passed through enough at Ellis Island and are worthy of security.
If the NYPD (New York Police Department) cannot do the job they applied to be then what has our society come to? A society that cannot come to a single conclusion on one of our basic needs: safety. While the police linger at the banks, the gangs stand at our bakeries and shop driving out youth to a dishonored life.
The infamous, Irish gang “Dead Rabbit” only wanted security from the looks they get every day from the people that are supposed to protect them. The police are turning from their oaths to protect the city. They think themselves a higher class than the human beings they are supposed to guard. What happened to opportunity in America?
What happened to hope?
