Your participation makes this the premier event of the year for our association. We are honored to host you in this tournament, which showcases the best soccer skills, teamwork, discipline, and fair play from the youth soccer players of New Mexico. You represent the best NMYSA has to offer and we are proud of you. Our State Cup is part of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, in which 185,000 players and 10,000 teams from 55 state associations throughout the nation compete to crown national champions for the U-14 through U-19 age groups, both boys and girls. A form of the US Youth Soccer National Championships was first held in 1935. After adding age groups throughout the years, it reached its present format in 2001. We have spent many hours preparing for this event, with the goal of having the best team in each age group, for both boys and girls, represent New Mexico in the Far West Regional Tournament. Our volunteers represent the spirit of our association and we give them our heartfelt thanks. A special thank you goes to the tournament committee: Gloria Faber, Executive Director; Heather Gallegos, State Registrar; Bob Bigney, State Technical Director; and Josh Groves, Director of Soccer Development. Thanks also to the field marshals, referees, coaches, parents, and all the volunteers who work throughout the year to make soccer possible for the players. Good luck to all the participants. Have a safe tournament and may you all perform at your best. Patrick Switzer, NMYSA President
