you ever played a nun before?
I love this question! I’ve never
played a nun before - convent debut! The habits and veils definitely
took some time getting use to, especially our grand finale costumes
loaded in glitter. Those beasts
are heavy! We are lucky to have a
physical therapist on tour to keep
our health and physical alignment
in check. But I love the habit, it’s
so simple and makes me feel like
a team with all the other women
of the ensemble. I also don’t miss
putting on fake eyelashes!
Of all of the show business nuns
ever on stage and screen, who is
your favorite? Audra MacDonald
as Mother Abbess had me in tears
in last year’s The Sound of Music
Live! on NBC. I love that musical.
The opening Latin sung by the
nuns always gives me chills.
When you’re not on tour, where
do you call home? I actually just
moved out of South Philadelphia
(so funny because that’s where the
convent is located in Sister Act)
and am currently a gypsy while
I’m on the road! Most of my stuff
is being stored in my childhood
home with plans to move to New
York this June! I can’t wait to call
New York home and see what borough and neighborhood I’ll end
up in!
Is there someone special in your
life? I do have a special someone,
Mr. Patrick Roberts - going strong
for over four years. He’s seriously
my everything and we are both invested strongly in each others’ careers. He’ll be performing in New
Jersey this winter at the McCarter
Theatre in A Christmas Carol. I
can’t wait to spend the holidays
with him and my family!
What does ‘Sister’ Tara do to
kick back and relax? I am someone who likes to keep busy, so
what I consider relaxing is still
pretty active. I love and live for
Yoga! It’s my physical therapy and
a spiritual retreat for my brain. I
also meditate, journal, read, listen
to all kinds of music, go for walks,
and catch up on my stories (haha
- my television shows). When I’m
