legacy of music.
“That’s what I brought to the
table when I met Daryl Hall,” said
Oates. “That’s the stuff I was
doing. So this album is, in a way, a
return to who I was before the Hall
& Oates collaboration started.”

Oates may have grown up in Philadelphia, but he was born in New York City and clearly
thinks of himself as a New Yorker. He laughs when asked if he ever had an addiction to
Scrapple. He never liked it very much, noting that Daryl is a little bit more of the
Pennsylvania Dutch side of things. What he most looks forward to when he returns to
the tri-state area is seeing his father who is 95 years old and still doing well.
