BIOMASS TAX CREDIT
A relief package was passed to expand renewable energy for homeowners starting in 2021 . It includes a tax credit for biomass heaters in section 25 ( d ) of the IRS tax code , and allows homeowners to claim an uncapped 26 % tax credit on the installed cost of wood or pellet heaters meeting specific efficiency requirements .

The 26 % biomass tax credit is valid through 12 / 31 / 22 . It is uncapped for qualifying units and also includes the full cost of installation — venting , floor protection and labor .
For a heating unit to qualify it needs to be at least 75 % HHV efficient . Hearthstone has a large selection of eligible wood stoves including the Green Mountain 40 , 60 and 80 , Castleton , Craftsbury , Heritage , Manchester , Mansfield and Shelburne .
