W We are far smarter and stronger than we think. We have every skill and power within us to lose weight effortlessly and painlessly – for good – but we are a society of quick-fix lovers. W e have little time, are faced with information overload, increased pressure (workload, debts, emotional responsibilities like juggling family life etc.) and this lifestyle takes its toll. We are experiencing an increase of stress-related health issues such as burn out, heart problems and even obesity due to an unhealthy diet, emotional eating patterns plus food addictions. This combination makes us prone to constantly look for quick fixes and painless “solutions”, yet none of them offers us the real lifestyle change required to shed the extra fat for good. The result is that the USA has become the world’s unhealthiest nation. The diet and food industries are multi-billion dollar industries just like the pharmaceutical companies. These are big companies are earning big bucks off the laziness and lack of education of their consumers. Some might say they are serving our needs by offering us quick solutions for common problems, while others would argue that we are becoming their puppets. We are buying into their miraculous pills, hyper-palatable snacks, special diet foods 19 | NEW CONSCIOUSNESS REVIEW that claim to boost our metabolism and burn fat. It’s all out there, and is even brought to our doorstep by clever marketing strategies that lure us into believing that a processed diet product is healthier than natural food. Our brains are being manipulated by processed foods, artificial additives and crafty marketing. The result is that many of us have lost touch with our inborn, natural intelligence. Our children are being exposed to additives, artificial colors, flavors, high sugar and processed industrial foods at an alarmingly early age. These kids cannot help but develop a preferred taste for these industrial products and turn up their noses at simple, natural foods like fruits and vegetables. This generation of children is more addicted, unhealthy and overweight than any generation before. Childhood obesity numbers are sky high and if we don’t act soon, we will lose the battle.
