         remains fixed.4 Our love/mental life ever afterwards is determined by the correspondence between our spirit and that form. Our Natural Memory The ultimate form of our spirit is often associated with our natural memory. The ideas associated with this memory are often called “material ideas.” The memory itself is not material, but is closely connected to the states we experience in the material body. Our external memory ceases to change once we have left the body. About this memory we read in Swedenborg’s journal, Spiritual Experiences: How it is to be understood that as a tree falls,5 it remains [in the t
