THE NEED FOR A REHABILITATION HOSPITAL IN THE NEGEV
On September 23, 2014, the State of Israel officially confirmed its support for the establishment of a rehabilitation hospital at the ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran Rehabilitation Village. This approval comes in response to the urgent need of hundreds of Negev residents who require in-patient rehabilitation following an accident, stroke, terror attack, etc. Currently, there is no rehabilitative hospital in the entire Negev region. Patients requiring hospitalization during their rehabilitation period are sent to hospitals in the center of the country, placing an untenable burden on family members who wish to be near them. Experts believe it is critical that patients from the Negev region be moved to a rehabilitation framework close to home, following the initial stage of urgent care. The physical proximity of ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran to Negev communities, its tranquil and highly professional rehabilitative environment, and its extant paramedical and rehabilitative infrastructure make the village the prime choice for the hospital’ s location, with optimal conditions to enable recovery and eventual return to home and to daily life.
