THE STAFF RESIDENCES PROJECT
STIMULATING DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEGEV REGION
Establishing a rehabilitation hospital will encourage medical students and those studying assistive medical care to remain in or move to the Negev, specialize in rehabilitative care and be assured of quality employment opportunities. Additionally, an educational center will offer professional training programs in healthcare fields including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy and communication therapy. Thus the hospital will provide a solution to the severe shortage of these professionals in Israel in general, and particularly in the Negev.
This goal will be enhanced with the establishment of housing for professional staff adjacent to the new hospital. Simultaneous to the construction of the new hospital, four staff family residences and 16 student units will be built, to house professional staff, students of the paramedical disciplines and volunteers. The staff residences are critical to ensuring recruitment of high quality staff for the hospital, providing the added benefit of living adjacent to their workplace and enabling around-the-clock accessiblity.
