1 Me, my time and the beast of nationalism
Dear Yanis,
I would never have expected me to be writing a letter to you in all my life. Yet my way seems to cross yours now through the DIEM25 initiative. I am a historian and nearly more than a decade older than you,- two reasons, may be, for observing matters from a different perspective. Of course I have studied“ The Manifesto” and the other DIEM documents and papers as well as“ A Modest Proposal” and your“ And The Weak Suffer What They Must?” I have closely watched your internet videos just to get to know you as an excellent, persuasive and charismatic speaker and debater. However, especially for such a case life has taught me to be more on guard than usual. All this left me in a state of inner turmoil- with analytical considerations conflicting with lessons learned, forgotten frustrations coming up again, demanding for resistance and deliberate opposition- despite my Age of 69 or rather because of it.
