Detecting ICT Issues
Türkiye Finans deploys Opengear to remote sites for secure monitoring, access and control of their distributed network.
The bank identified a need to create out-of-band access to remote ICT elements
Introduction
Turkish banking group, Türkiye Finans
Katılım Bankası has a proactive attitude
to protecting its IT systems that serve
1 million customers across Turkey and
Internationally. As part of an ongoing
process to improve the detection and
resolution of ICT issues, the bank
decided to upgrade remote connectivity
to critical infrastructure in 250 branch
locations.
Challenges
The organisation identified a need to
create out-of-band access to remote ICT
elements by mixing PSTN and Cellular
connectivity depending on the available
connections at its highly dispersed bank
branch network. The bank turned for
advice to CTS Bilisim, an Istanbul22 NETCOMMS europe Volume V Issue 6 2015
based expert in data centre and server
room monitoring and management
technology for advice. Key criteria for
the solution included:
• Flexible deployment options across
fixed and mobile networks
• Strong data encryption to ensure
secure communication
• Competitive price versus performance
aspect with non-restrictive upgrade
policy
• Proven technology supplier with
credible reference sites
Solution
Following a thorough evaluation process
of competing solutions, Türkiye Finans
Katılım Bankası selected the Opengear
ACM5500 Remote Management
Gateway to enable secure remote
monitoring, access and control of its
distributed network infrastructure and
remote sites using its built-in out-of-band
connectivity. According to Erdal Ek,
Senior Network Specialist for Türkiye
FinansEk, the Opengear solution had
a number of benefits including, “…
the ease with which remote admins can
upload managed device configuration
and operating system images from
Opengear’s internal flash drive for
remote bare-metal provisioning and
repair of critical systems.”
The bank has installed Opengear
at branches across the country and
Erdal Ek confirms that the out-ofband solution has improved the IT
departments’ ability to both manage
