NEWS IN BRIEF
Siemon acquires Gigaduct fibre
containment
Global network infrastructure company Siemon has been discussing its
acquisition of the Gigaduct fibre containment system from UK-based
company Gigacom. Siemon will acquire all existing Gigaduct assets,
inventory, tooling and the customer base.
Gigaduct is a flexible raceway system for routing, managing and
protecting fibre optic cables in data centres, colocation centres, service
provider hosting and other fibre computing environments. Manufactured
from halogen-free, flame-retardant plastics, the Gigaduct system features
easy-to-assemble ducts, fittings, bends and tees in various sizes to meet a
wide range of fibre deployment needs. The system is designed to maintain
bend radius and protect fibre from the most challenging conditions. Easyaccess covers enable fibre installation or removal without disconnecting
the entire pathway system.
The acquisition will expand Siemon’ existing portfolio of WheelHouse
advanced data centre solutions and that includes the company’s
established line of copper and fibre cable and connectivity systems,
high-speed interconnect assemblies, cabinets, cable management, power
distribution and comprehensive data centre design services. Collectively
the enhanced portfolio supports any size and type of data centre, ranging
from large super computing and colocation environments, to small-to-mid
size enterprise data centres. n
