DATA CENTRE SUMMIT REVIEW
traditional connectivity models: how to find the
right data centre for the right job?’ Next was a
presentation delivered by Tony Day Global Director
of Data Centre Projects at Schneider Electric entitled
‘Data Centre On the Edge’. Tony examined strategic
ways to economically grow on-premise digital
infrastructure, given the impact of the Internet of
Things and the explosion of data usage caused by
applications such as video on demand.
The strong and diverse line-up of industry leading
companies and exhibitors included Schneider Electric,
Geist, Excel Networking, Heatload.co.uk, Maxxam and
Riello. Despite the strong pull of the diverse range of
seminars, exhibitors were kept busy by visitors keen
to find out more and get help on current and future
projects.
The Summit was designed as a one day event
to better meet the needs of busy data centre
professionals. With introductions made and interest
established, there will no doubt be a lot of follow up in
the coming months.
Commenting on the success of the event, Rachel
Titchener Director of Events at Data Centre Events
and LGN Media said, “We are thrilled with how the
event panned out. Delegates commented on how
inspirational and helpful they found the seminar
program in support of their operational requirements
and exhibitors have confirmed that they have
connected with new data centre professionals facing
real challenges.”
As well as the efficiency of the one-day event, the
Data Centre Summit series strives to create regional
relevance which is especially important for the data
centre sector. The next event in the series takes place
in Manchester at the Etihad Stadium on the 28th of
September which is shaping up to be as beneficial as
its predecessor in 2015.
The first Data Centre Summit South event
attracted over 450 visitors from some of the UKs
most prestigious organisations. It connected
professionals, business critical objectives and vendors
that can deliver and make a difference.
