Siemon launches new Z-MAX 45
Category 6A shielded outlet
Siemon has launched its new Z-MAX
45 shielded Category 6A outlet which
features a shorter, compact design
with the ability to terminate cable at a
45-degree angle, reducing rear depth
requirements whilst maintaining proper
bend radius.
Z-MAX 45 outlets use a reversible
rear cap that enables cable to exit
the outlet at a 45-degree angle to
accommodate shallow back boxes and
wall-mounted raceway applications.
With 40% less depth compared to
standard outlets, Z-MAX 45’s hybrid
design supports both flat and angled
mounting orientations. Unlike true
90-degree side entry outlets, Z-MAX 45
also enables side stacking for high-
density applications, whilst the plastic
bezels prevent contact between metal
housings for superior alien crosstalk
performance. The innovative linear
lacing features combined with the
termination tool offers best-in-class
termination time whilst significantly
reducing installation variability for
consistent, repeatable performance.

Centiel aims to grow UK market
share with acquisition of
MPower UPS
Swiss-based UPS manufacturer, CENTIEL SA, has acquired MPower
UPS in a move to significantly increase its UK market share. Earlier in
2017 MPower joined forces with CENTIEL to market their leading-edge
technology UPS products and has now become a subsidiary company in
the CENTIEL Group.

Schneider Electric has introduced Smart-UPS with
APC SmartConnect, the first and only cloud-enabled
uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for distributed
IT environments. The solution enables businesses,
particularly small and medium-sized businesses
(SMBs) that have limited IT staff and resources, to
proactively and effectively manage the health of their
UPS systems.
UPS battery failure on any piece of equipment
is undesirable, but on the most business-critical
technology it could mean catastrophic business
delays and profit loss. To compound the criticality,
today’s IoT-enabled world means these devices
are likely supporting onsite and remote edge
environments that must function at the same level
of availability and security as the largest and most
mission-critical data centres.

Superfast Internet in
rural areas of the UK
Connecting Shropshire and Airband have
recently announced the live launch of the first
transmitter site, serving over 300 homes and
businesses. The transmitter provides superfast
broadband connectivity of 30Mbps to parts of
Sheriffhales and Shifnal parishes, and other
communities further east, such as Tong.
Airband’s deployment of fixed wireless
broadband works by sending a radio signal
from a transmitter site to a small receiver
attached to the property. A cable is then run
into the building allowing the end user to
access the Internet in the same way as any
other broadband connection.
The project, part of the UK Government’s
superfast broadband rollout and supported
by the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership,
is boosting coverage in the Shropshire
Council area up to 2020 and will provide
superfast broadband to over 14,000 homes
and businesses across some of the most rural
parts of Shropshire, with areas going live
incrementally as the rollout continues.
The project to deliver more superfast
connectivity to Shropshire is supported by the
Marches LEP, which secured more than £8m of
Growth Deal funding to improve access to high-
speed broadband. n
