Staley Technologies recently discovered it could make significant time and cost savings with a clever
combination of cable and network testing equipment from Ideal Networks. Michael Crane finds out more.

installations up to nationwide roll outs
on projects ranging from UPS surveys to
WLAN designs to CCTV installations.

The challenge
Staley’s fleet of technicians is tasked
with delivering more than 15,000 varied
installations per year so installers are
frequently travelling, often working
overnight to complete jobs. Further,
technicians must transport all equipment
between jobs which means space on

the vans is at a premium. Not only is
the equipment bulky and inconvenient,
like copper and fibre certifiers, signal
scanners and microscanners, but it is also
much more challenging to transport.
In addition, due to the workforce
travelling to up to four roll outs per day
and relying on downloading test data
while on the road, test results had the
potential to be significantly delayed or
lost as technicians moved between work
sites, resulting in the need to go back
and retest to ensure that the installation
had been done correctly.
