ON THE CASE

Ninja speed

Krome has announced that Ninja Theory has deployed solutions from Krome Technologies to transform its network infrastructure , resulting in a 10-fold increase in speed .
Video game development is an increasingly data intensive industry and Ninja Theory employees need to download large game builds of up to 75 gigabytes daily . However , the company ’ s legacy network infrastructure was increasingly unable to cope with the growing complexity of gaming technology and graphics , leaving employees frustrated and causing bottlenecks in production . The solution from Krome Technologies is based around Dell EMC Active Fabric , a leaf spine architecture which reduces latency , increases network throughput and is highly scalable yet affordable . As Ninja Theory could not afford any downtime , the new infrastructure was installed over the course of a weekend and was up and running by Monday morning .
The new infrastructure incorporates two Dell EMC Networking S4810 core switches and 10 Dell EMC Networking N2048 edge switches , each using eight 10 gigabit Ethernet ( GbE ) uplinks connected to the core switches . Today , Ninja Theory runs 90 per cent of its servers at 10Gb , with endpoints running at 1Gb . The company plans to upgrade its storage infrastructure to 10Gb in the near future .

Smurf-cam

Redvision has played an important part in the protection of Bournemouth and Poole FE College , which has recently received a £ 12m investment for upgrade and modernisation of its campuses .
The project included constructing brand new buildings to house a digital media centre , a performing arts centre and new science laboratories .
The project also included adding innovative new roof panels to generate solar electricity for the college , supporting the local authority ’ s commitment to improved sustainability .
Secure Alarms is responsible for installing and maintaining the college ’ s security systems . Secure Alarms selected Redvision to supply all external PTZ cameras .
The newly overhauled college site at Poole has 39 indoor cameras and 16 outdoor cameras , eight of which are Redvision PTZs . The Bournemouth site has 29 indoor and 25 outdoor cameras , five of which are Redvision ’ s .
Revision offers a bespoke RAL colour service on all its cameras and Bournemouth and Poole College used this to great effect . The result is that the cameras blend into the aesthetics of each building , making them less obtrusive .
The blue PTZ cameras have affectionately been nicknamed ‘ Smurf-cam ’ by college staff .
