Capitalising on merged businesses

The merging of two or more businesses is a popular and frequent way for existing businesses to gain market share , increased revenue or expand into new verticals . The most common merger is described as ‘ horizontal ’ where two companies that share the same product lines and market sector come together .

In September 2016 the network cabling market saw Norbain Holdings T / A Dunasfern acquire Auriga Europe . Auriga Europe was then combined into Dunasferns existing Milton Keynes facility , and the merged businesses now trade as Dunasfern Inc . Auriga .
Both Dunasfern and Auriga Europe have carved their way in an ever changing and evolving marketplace for more than 25 years . Although both businesses worked within the same market they had very much established themselves as specialists in different product areas . Dunasferns identity formed through key distribution agreements with Prysmian Group ( Draka UC-Connect ), Nexans , Ortronics and Eaton , enabling the business to offer a core set of structured cabling solutions . On the other hand Auriga have long been regarded as one of the key distributors for fibre systems supplying the Optronics range of products , as well as test and measurement with world renowned Fluke Networks .
The coming together of both businesses gives Dunasfern Inc . Auriga a solid platform to build on throughout 2017 . Manager Steve Melay commented ‘ Since the acquisition of Auriga we ’ ve already seen huge benefits for both Dunasfern and Auriga as a unified business . Auriga had Optronics , 3M and Fluke within their portfolio , all of whom complemented Dunasferns existing set of suppliers . Product enhancement
Dunasfern Inc . Auriga have also enhanced their product offering with Eaton by becoming a stockist for Eaton ’ s range of power products . Eaton ’ s power range is a comprehensive offering of power management solutions , which includes uninterruptible power supplies ( UPS ’ s ), DC power solutions , power distribution units ( PDUs ), remote monitoring and management software . The addition of a power portfolio enhances the existing rack and Data Centre solutions already offered . Service Manager Chris Carrington said “ The addition of Eaton ’ s power solutions is a natural progression because we already work with them on racks , but it also allows us to diversify and enhance our portfolio . Our customers are developing their key skills so that they can offer a broader range of services to their end clients . One of those key areas is power because the costs involved for IT downtime are significant . Any form of downtime results in a loss to employee productivity , revenue and also any associated costs to resolve the issue . So we are now able to engage our customers and urge them to have the discussion with their clients about their business continuity planning ’

As well as the enhancement of the Eaton portfolio , Dunasfern Inc . Auriga has signed a distribution agreement with HUBER + SUHNER . HUBER + SUHNER is a leading global supplier of high performance copper and optical fibre solutions for Enterprise Premise Networks and Data Centres . Its product solutions include the IANOS range which is a high density fibre management system facilitating fast , flexible and future-proofed connectivity in the data centre . The IANOS chassis can accommodate 72 LC or MTP ports in a single 1U rack space which allows for a reduction on the total cost of ownership and enables more space in the rack for active equipment . Through LC and MTP connectivity , the system can accommodate anything from 10G to 400G links .
