R&M invests and strengthens
its position in Brazil SolarWinds IT Trends Report 2017 reveals the
challenges and opportunities of Hybrid IT
R&M has announced the acquisition of the
fibre optic activities of the Brazilian group
Peltier Comércio e Industria LTDA (PETCOM),
headquartered in Santa Rita do Sapucaí in the
state of Minas Gerais.
The company, founded in 1990, is a leading
developer and provider of advanced fibre optic
solutions. PETCOM will remain in the regional
market providing turnkey solutions for CCTV and
optical fibre communication.
Roger Keller, executive vice president of R&M
in Europe and Latin America, said that with this
acquisition R&M is looking to reinforce its market
position in the area of structured cabling systems
for data centres in Brazil. In addition, R&M will
be given access to the strongly growing public
networks market.
‘Our communications solutions enable us to
make an important contribution to the country’s
further development through an increase in
broadband capacity for mobile and Internet
communications,’ said Mr Keller.
‘Local production also enables R&M to
optimally meet the requirements of the customers’
regional needs.’
With its combined solution portfolio, R&M said
it is ideally placed to cover the strategic segments
of data centres, LAN and public networks.
Paulo Campos, R&M’s managing director, Latin
America, added, ‘The synergies generated through
the acquisition will further strengthen our position
in Brazil and also throughout the entire Latin
American market. There is a large consumer need
for a modern communication infrastructure.’
R&M will manage the entire region from its
subsidiaries in São Paulo and Minas Gerais in Brazil. SolarWinds has released the latest findings from its annual IT Trends
Repor t, which takes a deep dive into the effects hybrid IT has had on
UK organisations.
The report reveals that although organisations are experiencing cost
efficiencies and scalability, they are struggling with the IT professional
skills gap, visibility and concerns around security.
Joe Kim, senior vice president and chief technology officer at
SolarWinds, said that overall, organisations in the UK are moving further
into the cloud, with 92 per cent of respondents reporting they have
migrated critical applications and infrastructure over the past year.
However, more than half (58 per cent) said an IT skills gap was one
of the five biggest challenges of the cloud and hybrid IT, while 59 per
cent said the existence of the cloud and hybrid IT have had at least
somewhat of an impact on their careers in terms of requiring them to
acquire new skills.
Mr Kim said, ‘For today’s IT professionals, it’s absolutely critical
not only to put the right solutions in place to best manage hybrid IT
environments, but to prepare organisations – and themselves – for
continued technology advancements, even as we move beyond cloud.’
