Any low points or struggles that you had to overcome on your way to the #1 plate?
I definitely had my low points this season. Little ones from having a suspension set up in the beginning of season that was pretty much the complete opposite of where I needed it to be. But I also learned off of that mistake. But my biggest low point was about that half way point my mental focus was completely gone. Every race I would show up and be ready until the first lap then I would completely lose focus and not even ride the way I should of been riding. I had never experienced that before so it was tough to find out what the problem was. Thankfully I fixed that or else I know I would not of gotten the championship.
What was it like having such a tight battle for the championship with Jim Senecal?
It was definitely tough having such a tight battle all season for the championship. We both knew we had to beat one another each race so any little mistake or bad race could cost you big time. But the most important part of a tight battle like that was not letting it get the best of you and just go into every race not thinking about it. In the end of it all no matter who won it was an awesome season for us and everybody watching.
Any advice that you would give to riders just getting into NETRA hare scrambles about fitness or preparation?
Some advice I would give for a new NETRA rider about fitness and preparation is to take care of your body. Eat the right foods and hydrate properly. Find out what what works best for you and your body to compete at the level you are at and stick to what works. Always be prepared, don't go to the race with a bike that you think may break, make sure you're bike is 100% race ready, you're goggles and gear is all prepared and make sure you are race ready.
Any advice that you would give about practice riding or getting seat time?
Seat time and practicing are also very important for racing. You don't have to drive yourself crazy with doing motos all week thinking you have to practice at race pace. Going out for a long trail ride with your friends is just as good and a great way to practice basic fundamentals of riding. Go out and do some hard enduro or some fast cart roads just for fun! Any time on the bike is better than no time on the bike.
Any goals or plans for the 2018 season that you'd like to share?
My goals for the 2018 season will be to defend that number one plate! Id also like to try and race my first NETRA enduro or maybe even a couple if I can figure it out haha! I also have a couple guys from town that I try and help get faster and progress throughout the year and id like to see them on the AA line soon enough. I like helping people better themselves so if anyone wants to ride ill be more than happy to.
Who has helped you get to this point in your riding career?
My father Kevin Kordana has helped me get to where I am today. He put me on a bike when I was 3 years old and when I finally started to race he has been by my side the whole time.
Anyone else that you'd like to thank?
I'd like to thank NETRA for having a great series. Also Brooks Hamilton, Dave Bradley, Cycle X Press, Factory Connection, FMF, Rekluse, Enduro Engineering, 139 designs, Flow vision goggles, Evans cooling, Hair express and day spa and Kordana Electric. Cant wait for the 2018 season!
