NETRA News March 2018 | Page 4

Welcome to the new NETRA NEWS. Over the next

few months, you will see a noticeable difference

in this publication. Our goal is to provide a monthly

communication to you that features all that is good

about NETRA and this wonderful sport that we enjoy.

As usual, many people have contributed to the new look and feel of this publication. For me, it's a reminder that it's easy to rest on your laurels and to keep doing what you've been doing for a long time without necessarily thinking about whether or not it's still working. If you look back across the more-than-forty-year history of NETRA, you see blips on the radar; upticks when a small number of people (or even just one) stepped up and did something outside of the norm. Outside of what folks were accustomed to. Different but needed.

I'm a member of the Pathfinders MC and we just had our yearly banquet. Along with all the usual goofing off, reminiscing, bench racing, and chops busting, there was something different for us and very special. One of our founding members, Bob Reil, brought a couple scrap books. These dated back to the 1970's and showed a really cool history of our club and of NETRA. Check out the photos. Take a look and realize that, at one point, hare scrambles were a new and risky thing for NETRA. The series that is now our biggest and is continually growing was once a new thing; something that some members didn't want and others thought would be the future of our organization. For me, it's a pretty cool lesson about doing the research, getting input, and then taking calculated risks that keep us moving forward.

So as we move forward with this little e-rag and everything else that we try to do well, remember the fact that You Are NETRA and our next big move could be your idea.

In closing, I'd like to thank Jim Blais for the extra work he put into this renovation of the NETRA News. Let us know what you think of it!

Spring's coming soon!
