T HE FOUR GENERATION , FAMILY-OWNED-AND-OPERATED lumberyard was founded in 1911 , when Rhode Island native Carold “ Kit ” Arnold got his start cutting and shipping timber from Ridge Hill in North Kingstown . In 1952 , to accommodate growing demand , Arnold Lumber established a lumber shed in West Kingston where customers could pick out the wood themselves and simply leave a note to record what they owed . This “ honor system ” allowed the company to not only help its neighbors build homes and businesses , but also build trust . More than one hundred years later , Arnold Lumber is a full-service lumberyard with four locations , and while it may have grown beyond the simple honor system that once was , the mutual trust between business and customer remains .

The company provides high-quality lumber , masonry supplies , custom doors , millwork and top-of-the-line national brands for kitchen and bath projects ( including the likes of Unilock pavers , Andersen Windows & Doors and Decorá cabinetry ).

On a broader scale , Arnold Lumber is dedicated to supporting the communities in which they live and work through donations , partnerships and volunteering . Over the past year , the company raised and donated significant funds and materials and collected truckloads of toys for local charities during the holiday season .
