Since the property offers a panoramic view of the water , the decision to omit wall-mounted cabinets and opt for lower cabinet storage was a no-brainer . Riverhead Building Supply optimized the amount of storage with semi-custom and custom cabinetry solutions . Julia was able to achieve this with Miralis cabinetry , all frameless cabinetry with full overlay doors that meet on the outside with precision . Frameless cabinetry allows full access to the storage space within . The crisp white finish with black hardware kept the open and modern feel without washing out the appliances .

These cabinets have a few tricks up their sleeves : They feature hidden storage that makes for ease of use and access through rollouts , pull-out spice and pantry racks , and Lazy Susan turntables . To maximize vertical space , the fridge is flanked by tall pantry cabinets with glass-fronted pull-out drawers to organize even the bulkiest dry goods . As the tall cabinets meet the adjacent counters , one side of a cabinet was converted into shelving for the client ’ s cookbooks and coffee maker , not wasting one square inch of space .

At the foot of the U-shaped kitchen lies a free-standing table surrounded by an upholstered seating area so the client can either eat or work without losing sight of the magnificent views . The client wanted a banquette but did not want it to be permanent . She found that benches happened to work well with the Miralis cabinets to tie the whole plan together . ◆
