ABOVE : The daughters ' Jack-and-Jill bathroom and adjoining bedrooms were the selling points of a previous Meridian build . BELOW : A mudroom with streamlined storage as well as a hang-out space were priorities for the homeowners , putting the family ' s needs first .

The main selling point , however , was the Jack-and-Jill bathroom sandwiched between the daughters ’ bedrooms . “ We saw it as a sign [ to go with Meridian ],” the owners say . Each girl has their own sink , similar to the parents ’ bathroom . The only difference is while the master bathroom is adorned with natural elements , the girls view themselves in a mirror surrounded by an iridescent shell backsplash , resembling nautical themes and , better yet , mermaids . The gray cabinets add a more feminine and youthful touch . There is a separate room for the water closet and shower , so the two girls can share the bathroom without hassle .
Another top request from the client was something for the whole family : a functional mudroom . Not just a small corner where everyone ’ s clutter piles up , but a separate room off the entry with an organized locker system and plenty of overhead and base storage for each family member ( and pooch ).
The slope of the land was one of the main concerns when building on the property . Other builders weren ’ t confident in a floorplan that would work , but Meridian decided a finished walkout basement to the pool and backyard would be the perfect fit and allowed for additional entertainment space . Dubbed “ a chill space ,” the daughters can have their friends over to watch movies and play games in a secluded space separate from the home , complete with a wet bar filled with necessary snacks and beverages . This was important for the client , and Meridian added a pocket door at the top of the stairs to close off the space from the rest of the home .
“ We wanted the girls to enjoy it and have a space where their friends would want to hang out ,” the client says . “ We wanted a home that everyone could enjoy .” ◆
