THEY SAY YOU PULL INSPIRATION FROM THOSE AROUND YOU , SO WHEN THIS FAMILY OF FOUR WAS LOOKING TO BUILD THEIR DREAM HOME , MERIDIAN CUSTOM HOMES WAS A CLEAR CHOICE .

The builder designed their parents ’ home eleven years prior , which featured a single-level layout with a finished basement that perfectly accommodated their retired lifestyle . Many years later , after seeing a similar build to their current home , they decided it was kismet and met with Meridian to work on a design . This family was looking for a functional and sophisticated design that allowed each member to enjoy the home , and Meridian delivered , using every square inch of space . With two younger daughters , the clients wanted a home that not only welcomed friends and family but embraced them in the common areas .
The build is a balance between honoring each family member ’ s interests and needs while still being stylish and cohesive . Maggie Ferri of Meridian calls the combination of all-white with natural elements “ rustic Scandinavian ,” omitting classic crown molding around the windows and keeping it slim and minimalistic . “ It ’ s very streamlined for a modern feel ,” says Sue , a new home consultant at Meridian . Meridian went with white oak flooring throughout the home to play into Ironwood Studio ’ s use of natural textures and moody paint colors . While each room has its own personality , key elements tie the home together .
An open floor plan is effortlessly broken up into spaces without physical barriers for an airier feel , allowing the design and decor to flow easily . The kitchen encourages conversation between the eating nook and the formal living area opposite the seated island , a great layout for entertaining and keeping the family in one area .
