To balance out all the blue , Jackson paired natural textured Roman shades and a custom sisal rug . “ It ’ s a room she can grow with ,” Jackson says .
With a house this large , it ’ s no surprise that there ’ s a bathroom for each of the eight bedrooms ( and counting ). The daughter ’ s bathroom was completely gutted and revamped to better suit her style . It showcases beautiful millwork and stone , tile and a double vanity with modern plumbing fixtures . White plantation shutters add to the classic and sophisticated beach home hallmark . The grasscloth wallpaper adds texture to the space along with the custom velvet bench . Instead of seashells and cliche quotes , Jackson opted for black-and-white surfing photos that add a bit of whimsy and playfulness .
Although the homeowner ’ s love for turquoise was honored throughout much of the home , Jackson turned to a calming and neutral color palette for the master bedroom . She brought in color through window treatments : a subtle lavender blue , gray and white horizontal stripes to complement the horizon seen through the double French doors . While the rest of the home conveys punchy patterns and colors , this room was intended to be very soft , as seen with the beautiful curvature of the linen wingback chair and all-white bedding . Outside on the covered deck , an L . L . Bean hammock sways in the breeze , perfect for winding down after a beach day .
Jackson ’ s designs are truly unique . When you walk into a newly designed space , there isn ’ t anything trademarking her work , because each project is catered to the client . No fabric swatch is ever repeated . She admits the biggest compliment to her work is being unrecognizable . Jackson scours vintage stores for decor , giving items another chance to shine in a new environment . She sustainably gets furniture reupholstered or repainted to suit the room ’ s palette and style . What ’ s even better is that all design elements can be repurposed , as seen with the sofa in the cozy reading room , and the fabric bases are neutral so they can pair with anything .
Upon reviewing clients ’ ideas or inspiration boards and asking pointed question upon question , she hones in on what the client wants to achieve while explaining the process of making it happen . “ These conversations and images and boards — all of it — are the foundation that allows everyone to fully participate and visualize the design ,” Jackson says .
The new and improved Quonnie home finally reflects its occupants ’ personality : hip and vibrant , yet down to earth . It ’ s a space for when they become empty nesters but welcoming for visiting friends and family . This home is ready to serve as a stylish seasonal escape .
