ABOUT THE PROJECT : “ While our clients wanted this location , just above their town along the shore , they did not necessarily want a garrison Colonial ; we transformed the coastal home giving it a Cape aesthetic , adding necessary space for a growing family .
The new design creates an open connection from the kitchen to the living room to the dining room , along with flow from the kitchen to the outdoor patio ; additionally , added space was used to create a family-friendly mudroom area . Natural light was a priority , and the new addition allowed for more light in the dining room , spilling into the kitchen . New windows and doors opening to the backyard create a bright , airy visual connection , completing this new and open space .
On the exterior , the use of traditional canopies and a farmer ’ s porch allowed for a reinvigorated vocabulary for the house .”
