The overall goal was to preserve the layout as much as possible . Riverhead Building Supply ’ s designer recommended Potter ’ s Mill Flat Panel style doors from Medallion to use throughout the kitchen . At one end of the kitchen , the walk-in style doors seamlessly frame the newly installed full-width glassfront cabinets along with the cherry floating shelf beneath .
“ For colors , we knew she wanted white , so we chose ‘ Sea Salt ’ for the cabinetry ,” Janis says . “ Then , to create some warmth , we added in the cherry wood with a ‘ Cappuccino ’ stain and ‘ Burnt Sienna ’ glaze and highlight for the floating shelves .”
The client also loved the designer ’ s suggestion of ‘ Celeste ’ blue for the base of the island — a pop of color in an otherwise neutral space .
“ The design needed to be clean-lined and easy to care for ,” says Janis . “ And then they all cook , so including a large island was a must .”
Riverhead supplied the Medallion Gold full overlay cabinetry — full overlay doors optimize the storage space and grant full access to the snack forager — featured throughout the space . In addition , they provided the Andersen windows and warmtoned wood floors . Riverhead ’ s customized solutions surpassed even the client ’ s expectations and made it so she , her husband and their two teenage boys will be able to fully enjoy the fruits of their kitchen for years to come . ◆
