Having begun his career under the renowned custom bed designer , Stephen Plaud , at just fifteen years old , owner Scott James Pacheco has helped produce thousands of pieces of furniture for architects , interior designers and decorators from all over the country in the twenty-five years since . He officially took over Plaud ’ s business in 2017 with a new name but the same Tiverton workshop , same dedicated team of master craftsman and the same passion for Americanbuilt heirlooms .
When ordering a custom bed from SJFD , you choose everything from the sleeping height to the mattress and box spring thickness to the style , wood type and finish . Some of the most popular styles with the Watch Hill , Newport and Narragansett crowds have been more traditional like the Portsmouth Pineapple . This classic canopy bed is available with or without the canopy frame and a four-square panel headboard . Adding whimsy to an already dramatic piece , each post displays intricately handcarved pineapples — the reigning symbol of hospitality . Meanwhile , the timeless Classic Cannonball bed has round ball top bed posts with a merry cut-out flat headboard , able to match any guest room style , especially those geared towards the children in your life . If you ’ re in the market for a more demanding presence , however , the Watch Hill variation lives up to its namesake , featuring rare , five-inch solid posts with a dynamic rolltop to the foot and headboard .
