"golf offers a more interesting playing experience"

The reason Ines loves to play golf is the fact that it is so different from any other sports, “In sports like basketball and football the game is always played on a uniformly sized pitch.” the 2012 Miss Indonesia said. “Whereas in golf all holes are always different and unique in their own right, which offers a more interesting playing experience” She added. Ines likes the way one has to use her mind, how one incorporates strategy in order to play the next shot one shot at a time to the best of her ability with the least amount of strokes. It is also a nice combination of both a physical and mental challenge, whilst dealing with varying wind and playing conditions. It is challenging in many different ways.

Golf & Career

The reason Ines started playing golf was that her parents also started playing golf 25–30 years ago. Her mother actually represented Indonesia at golf often, competing in national tournaments, she competed in 1996 & 2000 PON games. Her father also plays but only for fun on the weekends to a 20 handicap. She was nine years old when she first held a golf club, she really wanted to play like her mother, but she was very skinny and petite so her mother felt it wasn’t worth it. By the time she was 12 her physique started to develop so she started to really play golf. Her older brother also plays, so they often get together for family rounds of golf, a good way to spend quality time together as a family.

After being crowned as Miss Indonesia 2012 and representing Indonesia in Miss World of the same year, Ines hasn’t been playing much golf recently. On the other side, she has several media commitments recently through Miss Indonesia, as this is how she makes money. She is also busy helping her mom and brother who run a very successful restaurant in Bali, Kuta, called Dulang Café. It’s a must try restaurant as their Sop Buntut got a mention in the top 30 dishes to try in Bali by the Bali Expat magazine.

But even with a pretty tight schedule, she was able to practice and compete in the Lidhya Ivanna Jaya memorial pro-skins tournament with three other Asian professionals. Tang Thi Nhung from Vietnam, Chihiro Ikeda from the Phillipines and Srisawang Nontaya from Thailand.

Besides Golf, Ines loves to eat. Her parents love food as well as running her family’s own restaurant. They love to go and try new restaurants at weekends, discovering different types of cuisine. She also loves to watch movies and cook, especially baking. She claims that she could make a tasty banana cake. She also enjoys playing other sports as well as going to the gym, considering all the eating she does, she would feel guilty not going to the gym.
