August 2, 2013 – Neighborhood Alliance was presented a $40,000 grant on behalf of the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Council to help provide home-delivered meals to the frail, elderly and severely handicapped throughout Lorain County. The grant was presented during the re-grand opening ceremony of the newly expanded Walmart Supercenter in Avon and was used to purchase the special Hot Home Delivered meal truck in the photo to the right. Senior Nutrition Home Delivered Meals Program provides meals to Lorain County Elderly. This program provided by Neighborhood Alliance delivers nutritionally balanced meals to the frailest of seniors and severely handicapped in Lorain County. Step 2: Four Delivery Drivers drive around the county to deliver meals. All drivers are trained in food safety and senior awareness. 3 1 In 20 84,281 meals were prepared and delivered to older adults throughout Lorain County. Step 1: Meal Preparation, Packaging and Loading at the Senior Nutrition Kitchen in Lorain, Ohio. Step 3: Happy and Healthy Senior Citizens who are able to remain in their homes longer.
