Originally started as an “Adopt-a-child” program, Christmas for Caring organized by Neighborhood Alliance, has quickly become an inspired way of spreading holiday cheer for many businesses and individuals in and around Lorain County. The Christmas for Caring program now collects gifts for our traditional Adopt-A-Child program but also collects other items specific to our neighbors in need here in Lorain County. Senior Care Boxes and Homeless Care Boxes are included in this drive along with a number of other collections such as the “Sweets for the Feet” shoe drive held by Collection Auto Group and the Child Enrichment Holiday Parties sponsored by Lorain National Bank and PNC Bank. The generosity that overflows Neighborhood Alliance around the holiday is beyond compare! Focusing on specific needs of the families we serve through our Help Me Grow® Program, Family Care Baskets and Infant Care Boxes were also added to the Christmas For Caring wish list to answer the needs of individual families. Family Care Baskets include useful household items that are not eligible for purchase with SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. These baskets that only need essential supplies such as laundry detergent, toothpaste, dish soap and shampoo, quickly grew as donors started personalizing their donated ba ͭ
