Appetite for Awareness
Hunger is NO Game
In recognition of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week 2013
Neighborhood Alliance in partnership with Panera Bread presented
a special soup lunch and short film at Hoke Theatre of Stocker Arts
Center (Lorain County Community College).
Project Night Night
Helping Homeless Children
have sweet dreams
Thank you to Nordson Corp. for delivering 50 Project
Night Night bags for the children at the Haven Center.
These bags contained books, stuffed animals and
other comforting items for children at the shelter.
This special soup lunch featured a viewing of the short film
“Living Room” by Nikki Heyman, an Oberlin college student who
created this film as her senior project. “Living Room” is an award
winning intimate portrait of three homeless families in Lorain County
struggling to provide for their children. A short documentary that
exposes the harsh and often unseen lives of parents and children
living on the edge, victims of the American recession, this film
provides an important lens into unraveling the misconceptions of
being homeless in America.
Soup and film viewing were FREE and open to the public; “good will”
donations were accepted at the door to support Neighborhood
Alliance Haven Center Homeless Shelter and Emergency Services
