Senior Enrichment Services of Oberlin offers programs and activities that are designed to stimulate mental and physical exercises that really foster an enriching experience to older adults in Lorain County. Activities include but are not limited to bowling, quilting, bingo, line dancing, weekly lunch gatherings and even excursions to Amish Country. One of the most popular activities is the Loom program which is subsidized by general Center and Socialization funding. There is no fee to participate, the supplies are generally donated. Looming has been an integral program of the center for decades and more notably since it’s really a lost art. During the summer, school age and college students as well as grandchildren of participants are often seen socializing and learning with our community’s elders. Activities are often intergenerational friendly. Neighborhood Alliance also helps connect seniors to the benefits of programs like Medicare, Medicaid, Home Energy programs, Homestead Exemption and Golden Buckeye Cards. In an effort to keep seniors independent, we work with other organizations to provide repair and maintenance assistance to ensure safe housing. ored Rest E! HOP Thank you for your support to institutions like the Senior Enrichment Services of Oberlin . I came to the United States in 1998 to be near my 3 children in my old age . My country of origin is Columbia (South America) and today I am a legal citizen of this wonderful country. In the senior center I have found a place that I can call home . Here I was taught to weave by the best teacher I could have , Frank Serazin . I also enjoy socializing with wonderful people , enjoying so much the gatherings, pot-lucks, picnics, craft bazaars, and art shows. At present I look forward to the lunches on Mondays and playing cards or scrabble whenever my health conditions allows me to do so. Please keep supporting our Oberlin Senior Center. It is so good for us old people . Elena F. - Oberlin , Ohio
