The evolution of the drug trafficking in Colombia during the last 20 years
The authorities of The United States were calculating, in the decades of the 80 and
90, that both principal Colombian cartels: of Medellin and Cali, they were controlling
70 % of the cocaine that was coming to this country.
And not only they were controlling the routes and the sending of drug on the outside.
Paul Escobar, chief of the Cartel of Medellin, faced to the State with cars bomb,
murders and kidnappings personalities. The brothers Michael and Gilberto RodrÃguez
Orejuela impactated in what there were known as the process 8.000, which it took to the
jail to dozens of politicians of the national area. They were called them bosses or barons
of the drug and for years they handled any chain of the drug trafficking, from their
culture up to the distribution. The death of Pablo, 20 years ago in Medellin, marked a
milestone in the fight against the drug trafficking in the country.
