Returning to work with the cost of childcare, commuting and
general work expenses (morning coffee!) can leave us feeling a
bit strapped for cash. If you are finding that you are struggling
there may be further support you are entitled too.
Working Tax Credit and help with childcare costs

If you’re in a couple, you need to be working at least 16 hours
each to qualify.

You can be eligible if you’re employed or self-employed.

How much can you get?
With the childcare element, you can get help with up to 70% of your
childcare costs. The table below shows how much you could get in
the 2017-18 tax year:

If you qualify for the childcare element, you won’t necessarily get the
full amounts.
