December 13-17 . Hosted by The Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce , the 115th annual holiday parade features nearly 100 boats of all shapes and sizes navigating a 14-mile route that starts and ends at the tip of Lido Isle . The parade begins at approximately 6:30 p . m . each night and ends around 9 p . m .
In between , the boats circumnavigate the harbor counterclockwise , cruising past Lido Marina Village , Marina Park , Balboa Island ,

For the 18th year , the City of Newport Beach is partnering with Operation Christmas to collect toys , DVDs , sporting equipment and other gift donations to support military service members and their families .

Balboa Bay Club & Resort and other local landmarks .
Tens of thousands of people are expected to view the parade each night from various vantage points including waterfront restaurants , beaches , parks and other areas .
According to the Boat Parade website , the place to be on opening night , December13 , is Marina Park . The community park offers

facilities throughout Newport Beach during regular business hours , now through Wednesday , Dec . 20 at 5:30 p . m . Drop boxes are located at the Civic Center , Police Department , OASIS Senior Center , community centers and all library branches .

The Newport Beach Police Department offers Vacation Checks as a free service to residents of Newport Beach .
During your absence , as time permits , NBPD volunteers will come to your home and perform a perimeter check of all doors and windows . To request this service , you may call ( 949 ) 644-3717 or fill submit an online request by filling out the form at https :// www . nbpd . org / what-we-do / services / vacation-check-request .
Vacation Checks are meant to be conducted on empty , secured homes ; they should not be requested if your home will not be locked while you are gone , or if people will be staying in your home while you are away . A Vacation Check cannot exceed 30 days and cannot be performed for a business , apartment , vacant home , or a home listed for sale .
After you return , you will receive a follow-up call from a volunteer to let you know the status of the checks your home received while you were gone . If you return home earlier than expected , please be sure to call the NBPD at ( 949 ) 644-3717
