Several new businesses have opened their doors in Newport Beach in recent months . Among them , LSPACE opened a flagship clothing boutique in late May at Fashion Island . The California beach lifestyle brand is focused on providing the perfect fit and premium fabrics in its high-quality swimwear and other apparel from breezy tunics and flowy maxi dresses to denim , loungewear , activewear and more . The brand also offers accessories such as sunglasses , hats , bags and jewelry , plus sunscreen and body products like self tanner , body wash and scrub , hand cream and perfume . KINDBODY also debuted a new location in early June at 4321 Birch St . The brick-and-mortar operation , overseen by reproductive endocrinologist Dr . Lauren Sundheimer , replaces the company ’ s mobile clinic , which was previously serving the area . A spokesperson says 75,000 residents in LA and Orange counties are already eligible for Kindbody ’ s fertility and family-building care as a benefit through their employers . Services range from IVF and conception care to egg freezing , gynecology , male fertility , egg donations and gestational surrogacy . This is the company ’ s 35th location nationwide . MAKING A SPLASH
A group of women who call themselves The Mermaids at Newport-Mesa Family YMCA — they don ’ t wear mermaid tails , but have been attending the Deep Water Aqua fitness class together for decades — held an Aug . 2 fundraiser to help the center buy some new equipment . But aside from the financial donation from their “ Mermaid-a-Thon ,” the group has made an even bigger impact on each other ’ s lives . Ranging in age from 55 to 85 years old , the women are a tight-knit group , hosting monthly lunches , taking each other to doctor ’ s appointments and assisting when someone experiences a loss . Some have said they felt isolated before joining the YMCA . Through the class and this social connection , they are a testament to the importance of staying active as you age .
