Camp MAC Helped Sam.

During the second week of school, our 2nd and 3rd grade Camp MAC students were engaged in a team building activity called Saving Sam. Students worked in small groups to complete this STEM challenge Each group team received a gummy worm (Fred), a gummy ring (life preserver), a cup (boat), and each student got a paper clip. The problem was that Sam was stuck in a boat and he doesn’t know how to swim. His boat capsized. To get to shore, Sam needs to retrieve a life jacket from underneath the boat so that he can float to shore. The student’s job was to save Sam by retrieving the life jacket from under the boat and putting it on Sam. Unfortunately, the only tools you can use to accomplish this task are paperclips. You cannot touch Sam, the boat, or the life preserver with your bare hands.

The kids absolutely loved this activity! They learned teamwork, communications, as well as cooperation with this task. They were extremely excited when they were successful and saved Sam. Great teamwork fun!
