NBHS News & Events

ELA teacher, Mrs. Fryske, had a thought during her class discussion about classic literature favorite "Frankenstein," by Mary Shelley. What would have made a difference in how Dr. Frankenstein thought of himself and went about his experiments? Once his creation came to life, how were the words and actions of those around him so critical in shaping who they both became? From this discuss the theme "Don't be a monster" was brought on the scene in NBHS to help create awareness of bullying during the month of October, which happens to be "Bullying Prevention Awareness Month." The lesson has sparked a tremendous amount of discussing and is starting to gain traction throughout the NBHS. In addition to the ELA department reading Mary Shelley's classic, Mrs. Filkins students are reading an adaptation of the novel and exploring the same talking points as Mrs. Fryske's class. Check out the video below and see how NBHS students are getting involved and spreading the word.
